In the building materials section you will find various types of building materials for technical model building. We try to give you a selection of products here that you won't find in other model making shops, as Bengs Modellbau specializes in technical model making. Here, for example, you will find ready-milled brass bearing blocks that you just need to finish. Of course, you also need ball bearings for the bearing blocks. We have a selection of very small and very common ball bearings for model making.
If you need a base plate made of birch multiplex or Jatoba tropical wood for a model building project, you can also find them in this section of our shop. If you are tired of your cotton wick constantly burning and having to keep pulling the wick out, then we recommend using our fiberglass wicks. These wicks, as the name suggests, are made from a fiberglass that does not burn. If you need test tubes to build a Stirling engine, just take a look at our test tubes, we have them in a wide variety of sizes.
You will find in our shop ball bearings made of steel in different sizes. All ball bearings are offered in the ZZ variant. The double-sided sheet metal disc with gap seal keeps dirt out and guarantees a good smooth running. The ball bearings are very well suited for technical modeling. We use the miniature ball bearings for flame eaters, steam engines and Stirling engines as they are particularly easy to move. Most of the offered ball bearings have a small cross-section to keep the installation dimension as low as possible.

Plaast or even polymorph is a polymer plastic (polycaprolactone) with remarkable properties that can be used for model making great. The plastic is already soft and easily deformable at 60 ° C. Place the granules in max. 65 ° C warm water. As soon as the granulate has become completely transparent, it can be taken out of the water and deformed by hand. After cooling completely, the plastic is hard but not brittle. It can be drilled or cut with a sharp knife.
Plaast is excellently suited for parts. Castings. It is even possible to reprint placards. A greasing of the mold prevents sticking together. Even multi-part forms are no problem. Of course you can also model Plaast with your hand and shape it.
The polymorph plastic can be repeatedly heated and deformed. Plaast is varnishable.
Plaast does not contain any toxic ingredients !!!
You receive from us a bag with 1 kg plastic granulate
Here you will find instructions on how Plaast Polymorph plastic can be used in modeling.

Very thick-walled test tubes made of Duranglas for the construction of Stirling engines or similar applications in technical model construction. The Schott Duran test tubes are mechanically very resistant. Excellent resistance to temperature changes means that you can also use the test tubes as a displacement cylinder for a Stirling engine without worrying that the glass will burst. You can cut the test tubes with our diamond cutting discs. Below you will find a tutorial video.
The test tubes are also suitable for laboratory and medical applications.
We carry the Duran test tubes in these different sizes:
Schott Duran test tube 10mm x 100mm 5ml (actual size: 9,5mm diameter / 100mm long / inside 7,8mm

Schott Duran test tube 30mm x 200mm 100ml (actual size: 29,5mm diameter / 200mm long / inside 27,2mm
The test tubes available from Schott are made of Duranglas. All test tubes have a flanged edge and a wall thickness of 1.0mm - 1.2mm. Please note that the test tubes do not have the dimensions specified by the manufacturer, but a tolerance of + - 0,5mm. Please note the actual dimensions given by us.
Our pressure springs made of stainless steel can be ordered in various sizes and diameters. You get the springs in packing units of 5pcs. Since the dimensions of the compression springs are particularly small, they are ideally suited for use in model construction. We use the springs in various models. For example, as a valve spring in the internal combustion engine "Karl". We have also used the pressure springs as a pressure spring for a flame damper slide. In addition, the compression springs are also suitable as twist protection for nozzle needles of model building carburetors or for the needles of droplets. All springs are made of stainless 1.4310 stainless steel spring steel wire.
In addition, we offer you a pressure spring probeset in which of each spring 2 pieces are included. With the Probeset, you are prepared for many applications in model construction.

Our silicone tube is highly flexible and has a temperature range -60 ° C to + 180 ° C and is slightly cloudy. The silicone hose can be used to connect a steam engine. The tubes are ideally suited for supplying your steam engines with compressed air or steam in the workshop, on model constructions or model building exhibitions. Silicone tube are also suitable as fuel lines for model-built motors due to their good resistance to chemicals. Another advantage of the silicone tubing is that it is transparent and you can always see if, for example, fuel or alcohol is in the line.

Round belt for driving drive models or small machines. The drive belt has a diameter of 2 mm and a roughened surface. It is made of highly flexible PU material. You can cut the strap to the desired length and then weld it by heating it (lighter or small blowtorch) and pressing it together. These flexible but still very stable straps are ideal for model making.
The drive belt is delivered as a 1 m piece.
Welding the drive belt is very easy. Use either a candle or a small burner with a soft flame. Hold both ends of the strap to the flame until the plastic begins to melt. Then press the two ends of the strap lightly against each other. After the material has cooled, the excess can be removed with a scalpel or small side cutters.
These pre-milled bearing blocks can be used for your model building developments. Whether you are looking for a main bearing block for your Flammenfresser or Stirlingmotor or for the storage of a transmission wave for a steam engine. The bearing blocks are milled but not yet drilled and can still be adapted by you according to the desired application. These bearing blocks can be a good start if you want to build a steam engine or a Stirling engine yourself. They are made of brass MS 58 and can therefore be easily further processed.
The bearing holes are adapted to the ball bearings available.

The glass fiber wick is 1000mm long. The advantage with fiberglass Wick is that they usually do not need to be burnt and rarely need to be replaced. We use the fiberglass Wick in the burners for our flame eaters and Stirling engines. The wicks burn with spirits, lamp oil or wax. However, in the case of the technical model construction for the driving of the Flame eaters or Stirling engines, only alcohol should be used, since the alcohol does not soot. We exclusively use this glass fiber Wick in our models. You can also use this glass fiber Wick as a spare part for our kits.
Of course, the glass fiber cores are also suitable for garden torches or capillary irrigation of your flowers.
The following glass fiber wick are available:
3mm Wick diameter
4mm Wick diameter
6mm Wick diameter
8mm Wick diameter
The glass fiber cores distributed by us are not coated with chemicals and contain no chemicals.
We manufacture these clamping sets entirely from brass. The DIN 912 screws used are made of stainless steel. We use the clamping sets to attach flywheels to the drive shaft. However, there are a wide variety of possible applications for these clamping bushes in model making. The shaft does not need to be processed, it should just be free of grease. The component to be clamped, for example a flywheel, must have a recess of 14mm in diameter and at least 8mm deep.
This clamping bush fits the kits “The Big Nick”, “Karl” andFlame Eater “Lutz”.Technical data clamping sets for 10mm shaft
